"Mixing It Up: Envisioning the Possibilities for Education in Louisiana"
LERA's Annual Meeting is a professional forum for the sharing of research findings, discussions of methodology and best practices, and networking with colleagues, just to name a few. Typically, the two-day meeting is held each spring.
The 2019 Annual Meeting will be held February 7-9, 2019, at the Hilton Garden Inn Lafayette/Cajundome in Lafayette, LA.
CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
The Call for Presentations is open, and proposals are being accepted.
All proposals must be submitted electronically no later than Friday, November 30, 2018. Proposals consist of a 500 word maximum summary. All proposals are blind reviewed. Submission of a proposal is a professional commitment to present at the conference. Acceptance status will be e-mailed on or before December 14, 2018, and a tentative conference schedule will be available online by January 7, 2019. Authors of accepted presentations are required to pre-register for the conference in order to remain on the program. Download the full Call for Presentations.
All registration rates include an annual membership. Please note that these rates apply to attendees who participate in one or both days of the Annual Meeting; we do not offer single-day rates. Card and check payments will be accepted; in addition to cards and checks, cash payments will be accepted on-site.

OUTSTANDING PAPER AWARDS
Each year, two awards are given as part of the annual conference: The Rayma Harchar
Outstanding Research Paper Award and the LERA Outstanding Graduate Student
Research Paper Award. Selection is based on the quality of the written paper, and criteria for
judging will be made available upon notification of acceptance of the proposal.
The recipient of the Rayma Harchar Outstanding Research Paper Award will have the paper
published in Research Issues in Contemporary Research (RICE), and is invited to present the
paper at the following year’s (2020) Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research
Association (AERA). The recipient also receives reimbursement up to a maximum of $500 to
support travel to this meeting.
Any paper whose principal author is a current graduate student or a student who completed a
thesis or dissertation in 2018 that was submitted in partial fulfillment of degree requirements
at a college or university in Louisiana will be eligible for the LERA Outstanding Graduate
Student Paper Award. The recipient of this award will be invited to submit the paper for
publication in RICE.
To be considered for either award, the completed paper must be submitted as an e-mail
attachment to the awards chair, Michelle Morris at firstname.lastname@example.org on or before
January 20, 2019. Papers submitted for either award will be evaluated on the following
criteria: (a) subject/problem, (b) research design or procedure, (c) results, (d) findings and
discussion, and (e) mechanics. Announcements of awards are made at the Friday session of the
annual LERA meeting. Papers must not exceed 25 pages.
