LERA's Annual Meeting is a professional forum for the sharing of research findings, discussions of methodology and best practices, and networking with colleagues, just to name a few. Typically, the two-day meeting is held each spring.
We are moving to a new location! The 2018 Annual Meeting will be held March 8-9, 2018, at the Hilton Garden Inn Lafayette/Cajundome in Lafayette, LA.
The 2018 program is available for download. Click here to download.
All registration rates include an annual membership. Please note that these rates apply to attendees who participate in one or both days of the Annual Meeting; we do not offer single-day rates. Card and check payments will be accepted; in addition to cards and checks, cash payments will be accepted on-site.
*Thursday lunch is not included in registration rates. A luncheon will be provided by hotel catering, but it will cost an additional $20 per person to be paid during early registration. At least one hour will be allotted in the schedule for lunch for members who wish to have lunch off-site.
A limited block of rooms has been reserved for Annual Meeting attendees until February 18, 2018. The block rate is $91 plus tax. Reservations made be made online or by telephone.
For telephone reservations, contact the property directly at 337.291.1977, and use the group code LERA18.
OUTSTANDING PAPER AWARDS
Each year, two awards are given as part of the Annual Meeting: The Rayma Harchar Outstanding Research Paper Award and the LERA Outstanding Graduate Student Research Paper Award. Selection is based on the quality of the written paper based on blind reviews.
The recipient of the Rayma Harchar Outstanding Research Paper Award will have the paper published in Research Issues in Contemporary Education (RICE), and is invited to present the paper at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). The recipient also receives reimbursement up to a maximum of $500 to support travel to this meeting.
Any paper whose principal author is a current graduate student or who completed a thesis or dissertation in 2017 in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a degree at a Louisiana institution is eligible for the LERA Outstanding Graduate Student Paper Award. Recipient(s) of this award will be invited to submit their paper for publication in RICE.
To be considered for either award, the completed paper must be submitted as an e-mail attachment to the awards chairperson, Michelle Morris at firstname.lastname@example.org on or before February 23, 2018. Papers submitted for either award will be evaluated on the following criteria: (a) subject/problem, (b) research design or procedure, (c) results, (d) findings and discussion, and (e) mechanics. Announcements of awards are made at the Friday session of the annual LERA meeting.
